I also provide cognitive rehabilitation and vocational guidance to individuals who have sustained neurological trauma, including concussion and mild traumatic brain injury (TBI). Cognitive rehabilitation is a program to help brain-injured or otherwise cognitively impaired individuals to restore normal functioning, or to compensate for cognitive deficits. It entails an individualized program of specific skills training and practice plus metacognitive strategies. Metacognitive strategies include helping the patient increase self-awareness regarding problem-solving skills by learning how to monitor the effectiveness of these skills and self-correct when necessary. Cultivating and maintaining emotional well-being is a treatment priority
I have conducted research in the fields of social psychology, cognitive psychology, neuropsychological rehabilitation, and exercise treatment for Parkinson’s disease. My current research focuses on the relationship between neuropathology, self-reported depression levels, and post-concussion syndrome (PCS), particularly in the context of litigation as measured by neuropsychological testing batteries. I am also studying the impact of time-restricted eating on recovery from concussion and mild TBI.
